DESCRIPTION : This farm is fairly flat and 80% comprises Karoo scrub and succulent veldt including granaat, Pruimboom, Shepherd’s bush, kruisbessie, some Euphorbia, vygie and several Karoo bush species.

Several climax plants e.g hermania and koggelmander Karoo are found in abundance. Various climax grasses including rooigras is found in abundance after good rains in the riverine areas.20% of the property comprises virgin spekboom in the rante area of the farm.

15% of the farm comprises Acacia riverine stretches which provides good shelter and abundant food .The farm is well balanced with a variety of open veldt and rante veldt.

The veldt cover is extremely healthy and good veldt management over several generations is very evident .The condition of the veldt has always been a major priority in the management outlook of these owners and the ACOCKS grazing scheme has been applied over several generations.

FARM INFRASTRUCTURE

This is an Angora stud farm and the infrastructure has been developed around the needs of the industry.

This farm has been divided into 74 camps (average 80h each) and the management system works around the wagon wheel concept where several camps share a watering point. There are 15 such water cells .14 windmills supply water to these units. The underground water is plentiful and the quality is good The average depth of the holes is 24m (8 pipes) Water is supplied to the troughs by means of class 6 pipes.

The boundary fences are all jackal proof and all the internal fences are 4 strain electric fences.

There are 6 sets of kraals on the farm , which include 2 dip tanks. There is one goat shed farm and the huge ram sheds around the 2 homesteads serve as sheds during rainy weather.

On the northern side the ram shed has a loading ramp and several cemented kraals. All the floors are cemented. The area around the shed is grassed and is watered via cemented furrows from the big reservoir to the north. The shearing shed forms part of the ram shed and is equipped with electric shears and bins.

THE PELLET SHED.(75m2)

The farm produces its own lucerne pellets in this shed. This huge steel and brick shed has 3- phase power, a huge brick silo, an open plan mixing area and an enclosed shed with sliding doors. The floors are cemented and the building is in prime condition.

THE LUCERNE SHED:(80m2)

This storage shed can hold several tons of Lucerne It is enclosed on the South Eastern side and is equipped with a huge brick reservoir to collect the rainwater.

THE FARM LABOURERS COTTAGES

These very neat and spacious homes are equipped with bathrooms, flush toilets, electricity and running water. Each home has a fresh water tank. Several have small gardens.

THE OLD SCHOOL

This spacious, neat building presently houses the church and is equipped with church pews and a lovely altar. The building is electrified.

GENERAL COMMENT

1. This is an excellent farm that was developed around the needs of the small stock industry, but would be an excellent game farm since the vegetation is bio-diverse. The pruimboom and spekboom biodiversity would cater well for the needs of browsers and the Karoo succulent biodiversity suits the needs of most plains game. There is also enough grass during the wetter summer season.

2. The farm is very well developed. The camps are small(80h) and this makes management very easy.

3. The internal fences are electrified and this makes vermin control easy.

4. The water is plentiful and the cell system is developed and easy to maintain.

5. The farm improvements are in a class of their own. To replace these facilities today would be very costly. The buildings are in a very good condition and the ramshed and other outbuildings are spacious, well built and very attractive.

6. The homestead on the farm is in excellent condition as are the staff houses.
